Getting Started Guide
Thank you for your purchase of the AI Ready Skills credentials & curriculum.
To get started using the credentials & curriculum in your classroom please follow the steps below:
1 - Install & lisense Minecraft Education
AI Ready Skills requires Minecraft Education. It is not compatible with any other version of Minecraft, including Bedrock, Java, MinecraftEdu, etc.
Minecraft Education can be installed for free from https://aka.ms/download. To use Minecraft Education, each user needs a license. Licensing is applied to an Office 365 Education user account.

2 - Log on to the AI Ready Skills Portal
The AI Ready Skills Portal is your one-stop shop for providing access to the credentials & curriculum to your students and to grade their submitted assessments.
To access the portal, follow the steps in this guide:
- Navigate to https://portal.aireadyskills.com/

- Click Continue in the “I’m a Teacher” card.

- Enter your username in the “Username” field.

- Enter your password in the “Password” field.

- Click “Login”.

- If this is your first time logging in, you will be prompted to change your password – enter a new password and click “Change Password” to continue.

You can log in using your Microsoft or Google Account if the email address for your account matches that of your Microsoft or Google Account.
- To log in with your Microsoft Account, click “Log in with Microsoft” and follow the instructions.

- To log in with your Google Account, click “Sign in with Google” and follow the instructions.

3 - Create a Class
Any instructor/teacher user can create a class to organize students and assign them the AI Ready Skills courses and capstone exam.
It is strongly advised to organize your students into classes on the portal, as this can assist you in the grading process.
When you log onto the Credential Portal as an educator for the first time, you will not have any Courses listed. Courses will be listed after you create a class and assign a course to a class.
- Select the “Classes” option in the menu when logged in as a teacher.

- To create a class, click “Create Class”.

- Provide a name in the Class Name field to identify your class.

- Optionally add a description to describe the class in the “Description” field.

- A classroom code is automatically generated, which can be used by students to join the class and access courses and tests assigned to the class. You can change the code to be any six lowervase or uppercase letters or numbers (case-sensitive) by changing the “Classroom Code” field.

- Optionally, you can configure how the class appears in your Portal by changing the cColor options.

- Optionally, you can also add another instructor/teacher to the class. This instructor will be able to manage the class and grade student assessments. Use the “Secondary Instructor” field to set another instructor if required.

- Click “Create” to create the class.

Course Assignment
Once you set up a class you can add a course or test to that class. Students who are in that class will have access to this content.
- To add a course, click “Add Course”.

- Click “Add Course”.

- You will see a list of all courses your school has a license for. Click Add for the course you want to add to the class.

- (Optional) When adding a course, you can set a date that the course is available to students. To set this date, change the Availability Option and set the appropriate options

- Click “Add” to add the course to the class.

- Click “Close” on the confirmation, and the course will be added to the class.

4 - Download & Review the Instructor Resources
Comprehensive Instructor Resources including course outlines, lesson plans and sample answers are provided for each AI Ready Skills course.
Solutions to the assessments can be found in the lesson plans.
- Once you have added a course to a class, you can access the instructor resources for the course by clicking the “Lesson Resources” option from the course list.

- You can download all instructor resources for a course in a single ZIP file by selecting the “Select All Lessons” check box and click the “Download Lessons” button.

- You can also download all the instructor resources for a unit within a course by selecting the “Resources” check box in a unit and clicking “Download Files”.

- Alternatively, you can download an individual resouce by clicking the download link for the resource.

5 - (Optional) Create Students on the Portal
For students to access the courses and credentials, they will need to log into the AI Ready Skills Portal and redeem an access code to join a class.
Instructors can create student accounts on the Credentials Portal using the following instructions or students can create their own accounts. It is recommended that students use the “Sign on with Microsoft” option on the login page to create their own accounts when they log in for the first time.
Students can be created and managed from the Students section. Click “Students” to access.

Create a Single Student
- Click “Create Student”.

- Enter the students first name and last name in the appropriate fields.

- Enter a unique username in the “Username” field, this is the username the student will use to log in. It is advised to use their school/district email address if they have one.

- (Optional) Enter the student’s email address in the “Email” field.

- Select a class to add the student to from the “Classes” drop-down.

- Select either the “Send Email Invitation” or “One Time Password” option to choose how the student’s password will be initially set up.
- If you choose the “Send Email Invitation”, the student will be sent an email to complete their account setup and create a password.

- If you selected the “One Time Password” option, enter a temporary password in the “Password” field or click the “Generate password” button to generate one.

- Click “Create” to create the student. account.

- If required, note the username and password for the account and click “Close” on the confirmation window.

Create Multiple Students
- To create multiple students at the same time, click the “Create Multiple Students” button.

- Select the class to add the students to from the “Classes” drop-down.

- Choose an option to create the student’s initial password.
- The Shared Password option will allow you to set a single password for all accounts.
- The Auto-generated Passwords option will generate a unique password for each account (recommended).
- The Manual Passwords option will allow you to set a password for each student.

- Click “Next”.

- Enter the first name, last name, username and (optionally) email of the student.

- Alternatively, you can upload a CSV file with the details of multiple students by clicking the “Upload File With Students” button and choosing your CSV file. A template CSV file with the required fields can be downloaded by clicking the “Download Template” option.

- Click “Add Student” to enter the details of another student.

- Once you have entered all the student details, click “Next”.

- Review the account details for the accounts to be created and click “Create”.

- Click “OK” to close the confirmation. A CSV file will be downloaded containing the details of the created accounts.

6 - Have your Students Redeem the Access Code
For students to access the courses and credentials they will need to log into the AI Ready Skills Portal and redeem an access code to join a class.
Students can log in using their Microsoft or Google account (see Step 2 – Log onto the AI Ready Skills Portal) or an instructor can create student accounts on the portal (see Step 5 – (Optional) Creating student accounts).
If a student has used the Credential Portal in previous school years they can use the same details to log in with no need to create a new account.
- Students can access the Credential Portal by clicking the “I’m a Student” option on https://portal.aireadyskills.com/.

- Students can either enter their username and password or click the “Login with Microsoft” or “Sign in with Google” options to sign in with their school/district Microsoft or Google Account

- If the teacher has not set up student accounts, it is recommended that students create their own accounts either by clicking the “Log in with Microsoft” or “Sign in with Google” buttons to create an account using the school/district Microsoft or Google account (recommended) or click “No account? Ask your teacher or sign up here” option to create an account on the Credentials Portal.

- If a student is creating their account, they will be prompted to enter their first name, last name, email (which will be their username) and a password. Once all details have been entered click “Sign up” to continue.

- On the confirmation pop-up, click “Go to login” and log in with the username and password to log in to the Credentials Portal.

- Enter your username and password and click “Log in” or log in using Microsoft or Google.

- Once logged in, the student should see the courses associated with the class joined using the class code.

- Students can also redeem a class code if logged in by clicking the Redeem in the navigation bar.

- Enter the access code and click “Redeem” and the student will be added to that class and have access to the courses/tests assigned to that class.

7 - Students Start the Course and Follow the Learning Path
Once students have redeemed the access code to gain access to the curriculum on the Portal, they can access the associated course and the Minecraft worlds for the course.
- Students can start any course they have been assigned by clicking its “Start learning” button once logged in.

- The course will be opened for the student at the beginning of the course, or on subsequent access, students will resume where they left off.

- To progress through the course, students can click the “Next Arrow” on the right of the screen.

- Students can also click on the arrow towards the top of the screen to open the fly-out to navigate directly to any part of the course.

- At various points throughout the course, students will be prompted to click on a link to a Minecraft Education world. Students click on the link to open the world.

- When students click the link, their browser should try to open Minecraft Education automatically, if it does not open click the “Try opening again” link.

- Switch to the Minecraft Education window if needed and click the “Create World” button.

- After a few seconds, you should be taken into the Minecraft world. Follow the instructions in the game and when completed return to the AI Ready Skills Portal.

- At points during each lesson, you will be prompted to to download student worksheets or assessments to complete. To do so click on the filename to download.

8 - Students Complete the Assessments & Upload to the Portal
During the course, students will complete a variety of formative assements to prove the skills they have learned. These assessments can take a variety of formats, including questions to be answered on-screen or uploading of an assessment file (e.g. worksheet or completed work).
- Students follow the on-screen instructions to complete the assessment.

- Students can add an optional message to their teacher with the assessment submission by clicking the “Messages” button.

- Students can enter the message in the “Write a message…” box and click “Send” to attach the message to the assessment.

- Once the assessment is complete click the “Submit activity” button to submit the activity to the teacher for grading.

- Some assessments will prompt students to upload a file as their assessment submission. Click on the “Drop files here or browse” area to choose the file to submit.

- After choosing the file it will be displayed in the assessment submission. Click “Submit activity” to send the assessment to your teacher.

We strongly recommend students backing up their world after every class as the world is saved locally on that computer and it can be easily lost.
9 - Grade your Students' Assessments
Once your students submit assessments on the Portal you can grade their work.
You can choose when you do this – whether after the students submit or at the end of the class or once every week or so.
It is critical, however, that you grade their work for the teacher graded micro-credential to be awarded on successful completion of each course.
To grade students’ work, follow the instructions below. Assessments can be graded using the Quick Grader which can be accessed in 2 ways:
- To access the Quick Grader and easily grade all assessments from a lesson, fom the Courses page click “Lessons” on the course where you want to grade submitted assessments.

- Scroll to the lesson you want to grade assessments for and click “Review Activities” to open the Quick Grader showing all the assessments submitted for that lesson.

- You can use the filters to refine the assessments shown. Change the “Status” drop-down to Submitted to show only assessments ready to grade.

- Find the assessment you want to grade and click “Grade”.

- The Quick Grader will open to that assessment submission. Review the student assessment submission.

- Add an optional comment in the “Type a comment” field and click “Send” to share the feedback with the student.

- Once you have reviewed the submission, you can add an optional numeric grade for your reference in the “Grading” field and mark it as Completed (Passed) or Needs Work by selecting the appropriate option.

Using The Quick Grader
- Click “Quick Grader”.

- The Quick Grader will open and you can use the various filters to access an assessment to grade.

10 - Provide the Capstone Credential Exam to your students
When your students are ready you can add the Practice Capstone Exam or the Capstone Exam to the class using the Portal – this will provide students enrolled in the class with access to the exams.
- The Capstone Credential Exam or the Practice Capstone Credential Exam can be added to a class from the Classes page.

- Click the “Tests” option under the class you want to add the test to.

- Click “Add Test” on the Test Assignments page.

- Find the test you want to add to the class and click Add for the selected test.

- The Test Settings pane will be displayed. For the Capstone Credentia, you will be unable to change the settings. For practice tests you can change the settings. Click the “Add” button to add the test to the class.

- Click “Close” on the confirmation.

11 - Students Download your Credentials
Once all assessment submissions have been graded as Completed and Passed by the teacher or upon successful completion of the Capstone Exam the student can download their credential.
- Awarded Certificates and Digital Badges can be accessed when logged on as a Student by clicking “Credentials”.

- From the list of awarded credentials, click the download button of the certtificate or digital badge you want to download.

- Choose the format of the file – .pdf is recommended and the file will then download.
